Big Idea Readings

To begin wrapping up our reading of Ishmael, you will find and read articles that relate to the big ideas you identified and posted to Collaborize Classroom.

[ Directions ]

  1. Review the big ideas you identified and posted on Collaborize Classroom, then choose one idea you most want to work with.
  2. Find one scholarly, reliable article that relates in some way (e.g. provides background information, gives more detail, offers an example) to the big ideas you posted. Conduct your research using the steps outlined below.
  3. Read your article and take notes.
  4. Post the link to your article on Collaborize Classroom along with a 3-5 sentence summary of the article. Your post should also state which big idea your article relates to.
  5. Read 2-3 other articles posted by your classmates, taking notes as you do so.
  6. Post detailed, meaningful replies (3-5 sentences each) to the classmates whose articles you chose to read.

[ Requirements ]

  • Your original Collaborize Classroom post must state your big idea, provide a working link to your article, and include a detailed 3-5 sentence summary.
  • You must read 2-3 other articles posted by your classmates.
  • Your replies based on these articles must be 3-5 sentences each.

[ Due Date and Grading ]

You must be finished reading the other 2-3 articles and posting replies by the beginning of class on Monday, October 24. This assignment will be graded for completeness and detail, and will count toward the Papers and Projects portion of your grade.
